NASCAR

Daven got to go to a NASCAR race with his daddy last weekend. He was so excited to go. Notice he is wearing his "CARS" shirt. Our friends, the Rogers, had extra tickets, enough for Daven and Mike to go along with Dustin and Daven's best friend, Nate. That was so nice of them to offer that!
But check it out, I guess the race was too much fun. Daven slept through most of it. I felt really bad for Mike because I guess they had to park like 1 1/2 miles from the race & Daven is not light. Man, that kid can sleep through just about anything if he wants to. Unlike someone else I know (aka Logan) that just can't miss anything. Mike said, that everyone around them couldn't believe Daven was sleeping because it was so loud. Mike said they all had to wear earplugs and even then it was super loud. So, how he slept was beyond me. But, I guess it makes for a memorable story, right?
Daven  reported that he'd had a good time when he got home. When I asked him how it was he said the cars were LOUD and they went FAST.  He didn't go to bed until mid-night. I guess that darn nap was just too long.

Soccer Time

Daven dribbling the ball. Sorry these are not very close up but I know my family was asking for some pictures of Daven at Soccer practice.
Daven's favorite drill: Dribble the ball and then try to kick the teacher with your ball.
Daven's least favorite drill: kick the ball in the goal while someone tries to block you. The other day this little boy was trying to get the ball away from him. Daven picked up the ball with his hands, ran around the little boy, set the ball down, and kicked it in the goal.
Hey, I need a water break, too! I LOVE Gatorade.
They have to throw the ball over their head. Daven usually ducks after this and covers his head with his hands. Then they have to stop the ball with their foot as fast as they can.
Here is Daven right before soccer practice. They get to choose their own ball. He calls his the "ant-eater" ball. I have no idea why, but he always wants to get this yellow one.

Here are the boys right before soccer practice. They have to sit on their balls whenever their teacher is talking to them. I was surprised that Logan was able to get this skill down. He so wishes he could run out on the field with the big kids.

Memories

The other day a toy catalog came in the mail. My boys were so excited to look at it. They climbed up on the couch together and with excitement, pointed out all the things they wanted. It took me back in time. I remember being at my Grandma Hatch's house when we were little. She always had a big Sears catalog. Before Christmas, she would let us look at the toy section and give us a pen. "Now put your initials by all the things you want" she would say. She wanted to get ideas for us for Christmas. We had so much fun doing this! Dreaming and wishing and hoping...oh-my. It was the best. Daven was really sad when I "accidentally" threw it in the garbage the next day. What on earth was I thinking?

I am so Thankful

We have been talking about in Relief Society this year about recognizing the Lord's Hand in our lives. I feel like I've had so many experiences where I've felt His help in my life. Today was no exception. The boys were very cranky this morning. I was doing my hair in the bathroom and they were both playing in Daven's room with the train table. They do this all the time. Well, all of a sudden, I heard this huge crashing noise and Logan started screaming and crying. Mike was on the phone in his office. We both flew to Daven's room to find the dresser toppled over. I was in a state of shock. I couldn't believe it, though, Daven was fine. He just kept saying, "sorry, sorry, sorry" Logan had one of the drawers stuck on his shins, but I was amazed because, had he been 6 inches closer to the dresser, he would have had the entire weight of it on him, not to mention the objects (piggy bank, lamp) that fell off of it. I was stunned. I kept thinking, how were they so protected & I felt very grateful. We still don't know how it happened. Daven was trying to change his pants. I'm wondering if he pulled on an open drawer for balance. I kept asking what happened and told him that mommy wasn't mad. I was just glad they were both okay. But, he doesn't remember how it happened. After this, I said, we need to say a prayer to Heavenly Father to thank him for protecting us.
The other thing I have been thinking about a lot lately is friends. I am posting a picture of all (well some) of us when we went out to dinner for Tasha's good-bye dinner. She moved to Utah about 3 weeks ago. I miss her so much. She was one of those friends you could count on for anything and someone that knew me pretty darn well, so you could tell her anything. But, I feel so lucky to have such fun friends. It makes me feel like the Lord's hand has definately been in my life this way. When we first moved here, I wanted friends so bad and wanted to leave Arizona and go back to Texas. But, now, I'm not sure I want to go (if that time comes, I am not making any announcements.)
