The Boys

The boys are doing really well today. We went to the ENT first thing this morning. Logan had to get his tubes checked. The doctor said that everything looked fine. There was no fluid. Then he asked if I had any concerns about speech. Right at that moment, Logan said, "mommy, milk, please." I said No.
He did give us some fitted ear plugs to use in the summer when we take him swimming. I told him how Mike got some water in his ear last month during a bath. Logan was so fussy after that and was scared of baths for a few weeks. The doctor said he didn't want to risk Logan getting fearful of the pool. So only $8 later I was on my way. He said the tubes should fall out anytime between Aug. and Sept.
I am just praying that Logan won't need another set of tubes. He has been the happiest baby since we got those in. I was telling the doctor, it just keeps getting better. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I guess it is such a minor procedure, though, if he does need another set, I won't think it is that big of a deal.

Then, we went to Target to get Daven more underwear. He chose Mickey underwear.
We also went to the gym. The highlight of the day, though, was Daven's soccer practice. He likes it. He is learning how to dribble the ball. He told me the other day, "mom, we DON'T touch the ball with our hands" I am glad he is at least learning something. He came over today for a water break and said, "I had to kick the ball TEN times." After we got home, though, he said, "SOCCER MAKES ME TIRED."

Logan wants to be big like Daven so much. He kept saying "Big Kids, Soccer" today at the park. He wants to run out on the field with his "DAMEN" I am excited, though, because, on Thursday, Logan and I will start our music class together. It is through the city. A couple of my friends have taken it and really liked it. It will be fun for him to have something all his own. He already pushes Daven out of Nursery when we drop him off. He wants it to be all his own. So stinkin cute. I love those boys so much. And my Mikey, too. 5 weeks left of school. YAY!!

The Plumbing

So today ended up being a crazy day. I got home from taking Logan to the ENT to get his tubes checked. Everything looked good, so that was nice. I went into our guest bathroom and the floor was soaking wet. I yelled to Mike (I am so glad he was home). He came in and we immediately tried to wipe up the water and get rid of the clog. The plumber that came out last November said that we have a very "sensitive" system. When it clogs up we have to run the tub, the sink, and the toilet to release the clog. Well, our efforts didn't pan out. Water came spilling up into the tub and water began pouring out onto the floor.
I called roto rooter while Mike began getting more towels to catch the mess. Luckily, they came quickly. I told them that I bet there is a baby kitten down there (remember when that cat had kittens in our yard?). He laughed at me. No, there was no kitten. But he thinks that there is definately a blockage of some kind. He is betting on a thomas the train being flushed down there. I told him, "My boys don't do things like that." He just laughed. I was serious, but I guess it is possible.
Anyways, he got the toilet to work and most of the clog released but not the main blockage. It stinks!!! So our next bet is to stick a camera down there, which costs another 300.00. Wow! If it is a Thomas the Train, I will be sooo mad!
So, then I cleaned and sterilized and re-cleaned the bathroom after her left. I am still washing the towels.
I think heavenly father is telling me to repent. Yesterday the lesson was on repentance in Relief Society. I think this is all symbolic of how I need to clean out my spiritual pipes as well.
This stinks, literally.

Potty Monday

So, I just have to write about this. Most of you know about the excruciating year we've had trying to potty-train Daven. Well, on Monday, he went poopy on the big potty without a diaper. It was so amazing. Angels appeared in our bathroom and started singing the hal-le-lu-iah chorus. Just kidding, but that is how I felt! He has been going #1 for a while. But, the only way we could get him to do that was by putting him on the potty when he needed to go...with a diaper. Eventually we were able to wean him off the diaper. Then we have been struggling with #2. Finally, for the last 2 months, he has been able to go #2 if we put him on the potty with a diaper.

Last week, I told Daven in desperation, that the garbage truck doesn't like big boy poopy's. He looked very sad, but looked as if he believed me. My boys are both obsessed with garbage trucks. The next day, we put him on the potty. Mike secretly altered the diaper by cutting a giant hole in it. He said Daven's face was priceless when he went and it fell in the potty. Well, on Monday, he did it without the diaper.

Daven's comment: "Mommy, is the garbage man proud?"

I think I am going to publish a book about how to potty train the difficult child.

The Boys Before Church

I took this picture at 1:50 p.m. Church started at 2 p.m. Read below to find out why we had no time to snap Easter pictures. Needless to say, the boys looked so cute in their outfits.

Daven picked out his Easter tie (it has dinosaurs on it). I thought it looked really good with the yellow shirt he picked out, but after getting a non-returnable discount on the tie, Mike told me he didn't like the look. He didn't think it matched. But, there was no talking our stubborn Daven out of the Dino tie. He hates wearing ties and belts, so if he finds one he likes, I'm all over it.

Logan was so cute after we got him dressed. He came running in to me practically tripping over his feet because he couldn't stop looking at the sailboats on his socks. Then, he proudly showed me his whale tie. It was his first day ever wearing a tie. He really is getting so grown up.

Oh, and the backpacks are in the picture because both boys started screaming when I tried to take them away. We only had 10 minutes until church!!! AHH, now wonder we were all so grumpy.

Easter Sunday

Here is a picture of all of us on Easter Sunday. We took this right outside the church (after church). I had one of those days where I told Mike that next year we are having Frozen Pizza for Easter dinner. Has anyone else ever felt like this?

The boys woke up around 8 a.m. and had so much fun hunting for eggs. They found their baskets right away (behind the couch). Then, Mike and I spent about an hour playing with them. From there, I needed to get the rolls started and make the potatoes. Then, I had about an hour of Relief Society stuff to do. Then, there was lunch to do and get ready for church.

By the time we were heading to church, we were all so GRUMPY with each other because I had tried to squeeze way too much into one morning. Despite all of this, dinner turned out really fun. We had some friends over and the kids just played and played. So, after that, I was glad I did the rolls and potatoes and hosted Easter dinner. But, during the morning, I felt like I just wanted to be able to soak everything in and spend more time with the boys.

How do we strike the right balance?

Easter Eggs

The Eggs turned out pretty cute. Daven was really into it. We were cracking up because Logan kept trying to give us his version of all the colors. He would say, "no, it's green" or "no, it's pink" every time we told him what color an egg was. He thinks he is so big.

The boys' favorite part was putting the "cars" stickers all over the eggs. Surprisingly, it wasn't too messy. Daven had a few blue patches on his hands, but that was about it.

Easter Egg Hunt

This Friday for playgroup, we did an egg hunt for all the kids. I was surprised at how much fun Logan had. He was smiling. He would get so excited every time he found and egg to put in his bag. Daven was excited because all the big kids got to find "12" eggs. He said, "that is a LOT!"
After we got home, Logan kept saying all day, "Hold me...eggs" because he wanted to hold his eggs and play with them. He cracks me up because he thinks he knows his colors but he doesn't. He kept bringing me eggs and saying, "pink, geen, yeyow." and they were all wrong. But, cute nonetheless.
Daven is excited to color easter eggs today. We bought a "CARS" easter egg coloring kit. He is so excited. The eggs are boiled, we just have to wait for them to cool off first before we color them. I'll let you know how it goes.

The things that are important to a 4-year old

Daven likes to steal our camera and take pictures. Every once in a while, there are some good ones that show up. This is one of his favorite pirate and sword. Pretty good. It is only like 3 inches tall, but very important to him!

Color

Logan's new thing is he likes to color. He sits at the table like a big boy and colors away. My friend, Brenna gave us a whole bunch of paper and pens that were given to them from a pharmaceutical company. The boys have had a blast with them.
We spend a lot of time every day drawing him "choo-choos" "tucks" and "cop-cars." for Logan.

A Trip to the Zoo!!

We went to the zoo on Saturday with the boys. They had a lot of fun. Although, I must say that Logan was not nearly as impressed with the animals as he is with cars in real life! It was very hot (well, nice). Around 80 degrees.

We couldn't believe we took the stroller, the boys ended up walking most of the time. Stinkers.....

Daven's favorite animals: the tiger, and the elephants
Logan's favorite: the train that kept driving along the walking path
Mommie's favorite: the giraffes and the elephants
Daddie's favorite: I don't like the zoo but the monkeys were pretty cute.
