Updated Play List

I promise pictures of our recent doings will be coming soon!

But, tonight, I was thinking about updating the music on my blog. I started searching for songs and thought I would put Mike and I's song on the blog. Then, I thought, hmm, maybe I could put all the songs that we really liked back then when we were dating. So, here they are. Isn't it funny how a song totally takes you back in time? That is what it did tonight. So, pardon my somewhat cheesy blogpost. Hey, maybe I'll start a new "tag." So if you are reading this you have to post all the songs that meant something to you and your sweetie...ha, ha. No I'm kind of serious, I think it would be cool to see everyone's songs.

1) Have a Little Faith in Me by John Hyatt
This is our song. One night we were sitting in Mike's truck in Mueller Park Canyon. We had been dating for a few months and wondered if we had a "song," what would it be? We both thought about how we had commented in the past about liking this song on the movie Benny and June. We didn't see this movie together, but both of us really liked this song for some reason when we saw the movie & went the extra mile to find out who sang it. Hmmm, maybe it was a glimpse for both of us of what was to come.
Something kind of cheesy, but Mike used to say it in Spanish to me sometimes, "Tiene un poco fe en Mi." Oh, the good-old days. It is on our wedding video and was our first dance at the reception.

2) I'll be by Edwin McCain
In deciding our song, we thought that our #2 song would be the Edwin McCain song that was SOO popular that summer. We both loved it. Whenever I hear this song, I think about watching "The Hunt for Red October" at his parent's house. Then we had to hurry to make it to the fireworks after. Mike had a blanket and as we were walking to his truck afterward, he put it around himself like he was from Hawaii. I was kind of embarrased. He said, "oh, what, are you embarrased that everyone will see your boyfriend like this?" I just laughed and then forgot about it, he just called me his boyfriend, right????

3) Satellite by Dave Matthews Band
Just my favorite song that summer I met Mike. I have such great memories of listening to Dave Matthews Band almost anywhere we went in Mike's truck. We had so much fun. It especially reminds me of driving to Tyler's cabin to hang out w/ his friends and our camping trip to Moab w/ his friends. Mike was always so exciting and fun to be with. That is one of the things I loved most about him.

4) Brian Wilson by Barenaked Ladies
Mike and all his buddies were into the "Barenaked Ladies" no, not a nudity group. They are a group of male singers. They really liked them that summer. So, when Mike was in Peru on a backpacking trip, I got some tickets for them. Then, when he got back, I could hardly keep my surprise a secret. He was excited about the tickets because his buddies had all bought tickets to go while he was gone. It was a fun concert, but our intrest in the group didn't last too long. Although, there are a few songs we still like to listen to.

5) Breathe by Faith Hill
How can you forget this one? Just so popular and of course at the time I LOVED Faith Hill. I would listen to it every day on my drive to school.

6) Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
I hope you've tuned in for the best part. This song has special significance because it is one of 2 songs I can play and sing on the guitar. We went to Lake Powell with my family about 2 1/2 months after we met. We had a good time. I was pretty smitten with Mike, but he just wasn't sure about me. One night, we were all sitting around the campfire and I played this song and sang on the guitar. That was the night he told me he loved me. It must have been the song. J/K I hope it was me. But I was so excited, nonetheless!!

Okay, so after reading this recent blog, let me clarify a few things before it looks like when I met Rickie I was just some guy out for a piece...he, he, he...okay, so that was exactly what was going on BUT this young 18 year old beautiful gal swept me off my feet and it scared me to death. You all know just how innocent Rickie is even today; well, rewind almost 10 years ago and you'll better understand what I was dealing with. In the end, I made the best decision I've ever made and the rest is history. Love you sweetheart!...thanks for all the great memories! Those songs take me back…

Cute -- those were fun to read..

Mike's comment is so sweet! Even if he was just trying to get a piece ;D

Don't forget we're going out Wednesday night! I will make sure you know about it this time. Even if it means you are so sick of hearing about it that you want to shoot me.

I love your song list! It's made me start thinking about what songs I would choose. When I get a few minutes I'm going to take you up on your tag. BTW, one song that always reminds me of you is that Hootie and the Blowfish one. I just remember listening to it at Lake Powell one summer and it always takes me back.
